Audition Call Professional Performers and Dancers for Transmedia Art Projects

Nikunja is currently preparing The Last Supper, a 24-hour performance project planned to premiere at the end of October 2026, and wish to identify three to five performers whose artistic presence, commitment, and openness resonate with the project.

Who we are looking for Studio Nikunja is looking for professional performers and dancers. Profiles based in or connected to the Basel-Strasbourg region are particularly welcome, but there is no regional limitation: applications are open to artists from all regions and countries. We are currently preparing The Last Supper, a 24-hour performance project planned to premiere at the end of October 2026, and wish to identify three to five performers whose artistic presence, commitment, and openness resonate with the project. Performers of all ages, ethnic and national backgrounds, and contemporary performance languages are welcome. This call is particularly suited to artists with experience in durational performance, butoh, experimental movement, and other demanding contemporary performance practices.

Artistic perspective We are looking not only for performers for the proposed projects, but also for long-term collaborations and future project developments with artists whose work carries a deep personal commitment to art and artistic practice as research into the human existential condition.

Over the years, Studio Nikunja has realized projects in Geneva, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, on Réunion Island, in Namibia, in Japan, in Kyoto, and elsewhere. We would like to build, over the coming years, an interactive and creative pool of performance artists, body artists, dancers, and contemporary dancers in order to create a performance environment of emergence for future transmedia works.

How to apply:

Please send the following materials as part of your submission:

– a short motivation letter,

– your CV,

– at least one uncut video excerpt of 3 to 10 minutes, without editing effects,

– and, if you wish, additional videos or supporting material that you would like to share.

At least one of the submitted videos should communicate your physical presence, artistic personality, and expressive qualities through unedited performance footage. The format and style of how you present yourself are free, so that you can choose the means of presentation that best suit your individual practice. You may share your videos by links to platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo, or send them via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or other transfer services.

Deadline and audition process Application deadline: 15 August 2026.

Selected candidates will be invited to a physical audition around mid-September 2026, around 15 September, at Studio Nikunja.

All candidates will receive information about the selection by 31 August 2026.
