Gianni Notarnicola
Born in 1996 in Monopoli, Italy, Gianni Notarnicola is an accomplished dancer,
choreographer, and teacher.
He was a member of the Batsheva Dance Company from 2021 to 2024, performing works
by Ohad Naharin on international stages. Prior to that, he danced with the Batsheva
Ensemble from 2019, working with choreographers including Ohad Naharin, Sharon Eyal,
Noa Zuk, Nadav Zelner, and Talia Beck. His time with Batsheva culminated in the debut
of MOMO, co-choreographed alongside Ohad Naharin, Ariel Cohen, and the dancers.
Before joining Batsheva, Gianni performed with the Avshalom Pollak Dance Theatre (2016–
2018) and collaborated with choreographers such as Bosmat Nossan, Yaniv Abraham, Guy
Shomroni, Eyal Dadon, Jason Danino Holt, Ido Gidron, Matteo Levaggi, and Cesar
Brodermann. Since 2018, he has been closely connected to Aterno Company in Mexico,
working as both performer and choreographer.
Gianni began his formal training in 2010 with the Junior Dance Company, working
under Sara Accettura, Osnat Kelner, and Kerry Nicholls. He later performed with Equilibrio
Dinamico under the direction of Roberta Ferrara, furthered his studies at NOD in Torino,
and completed his training at the Kibbutz Gaaton Dance Workshop.
His choreographic journey began in 2018 with the debut of his
solo DAME/COME (depending on version presented), followed by the duet LA
BATTAGLIA with cellist Eilon Damari. He went on to collaborate with Billy Barry,
premiering B.O.A.T.S (2022) and G.O.A.T.S (2023) at the Tel Aviv Dance Festival. In 2024, he
created FUNKeY for the Equilibrio Dinamico ensemble, and in 2025 premiered GIUBO for
the BrancaccioDanza ensemble in Rome.
In March 2024, Gianni received the 2nd Prize for Choreography and the Final Public’s
Choice Award at the 28th International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival Stuttgart for his
solo KAMA, which has since toured internationally.
Since 2025, Gianni has been performing and creating with Ate9, under the direction
of Danielle Agami, between New York, Los Angeles, and Paris.
Currently, Gianni works as an independent artist, performing and choreographing
internationally. A certified Gaga teacher, he continues to develop and share his unique
movement language worldwide.
