Theater a/d Rijn (Arnhem, NL) and Dance Company Theater Osnabrück (DE) invite emerging choreographers to apply for the 2026 edition of VIERxVIER.
VIERxVIER is an adventurous showcase and touring project. Four makers, each with a distinct choreographic signature and physical style, will create a new short work (±15 minutes). Together, these pieces form a full-length evening program that will tour across black box venues in both the Netherlands and Germany.

Who are we looking for?
While the first two editions were hosted by Theater a/d Rijn, this third edition marks a new milestone as we join forces with Dance Company Theater Osnabrück. This creates the opportunity for two out of four makers to work with a larger ensemble. We are therefore explicitly looking for choreographers capable of leading a small ensemble of approximately 5 dancers. The other two makers will have the possibility to either perform their own solo, or work with a small crew of 1 to 2 performers of their choice.

You are an emerging maker within dance & movement disciplines, in whatever form (contemporary dance, hip hop, house, vogue, ballroom, circus, mime, physical theatre or crossovers).
You have experience choreographing and presenting at least one short piece (±10 minutes).
You are eager to collaborate and share your process with peers and dramaturgs.
You have a genuine interest in creating work that resonates with a young audience (14+).
Creation process
VIERxVIER is designed for international exchange and peer-to-peer learning. During the creation and rehearsals period (Oct 28 – Nov 22, 2026), two makers will work in the studios of Theater a/d Rijn in Arnhem, and the other two in the studios of Theater Osnabrück. During the montage (Nov 23 – Dec 4, 2026), all four makers will come together in Osnabrück to finalize the production. VIERxVIER will premiere on December 5th at Emma Theater (Osnabrück).
Germany and Netherlands based artists are searched for.
