Amos Ben-Tal

Choreographer

Amos Ben-Tal is a choreographer, musician and artistic leader of the artist-collective OFFprojects.

Amos completed his training in 1997 at The National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada. He then moved to Holland where he danced at Nederlands Dans Theater for nine years. It is also at NDT where he started choreographing, making his debut in 2005 with Track.
In 2006 Amos left NDT to dedicate himself to developing his own work, creating several successful performances under the wing of Korzo Productions.

In 2012 Amos founded OFFprojects, a collective of former dancers of NDT and Batsheva Ensemble. With his group he created several well-received interdisciplinary works among which 60, Howl (winner Dioraphte Dance Prize), Interval, PART and Songs And Silences.
Amos’ choreographic language is distinguished by precise and articulated movements that are combined with free choice for the dancers and live composition. OFFprojects often collaborates with various artists to produce ground breaking new concepts. Their most recent work, The Bone Algorithm, is a spatial installation that produces sound through the movement of the dancers.

Amos composes the music (and text) for all his pieces as well as for such choreographers as Marne & Imre van Opstal and Johan Inger. He is also the lead singer of the rock band Noblesse.
